Some People's Ignorance...

Oh my, this is just one of those article that you have to read as an illustrator. It is just one of those great fears we hold. Thievery. Plan and simple -- copyright infringement.

Let's face it, there is a difference between showing some else's work alongside of your own work, and getting paid for it and showing someone else's work to share it with the world like in a blog and having no means of ever getting any fee, just to promote and share without harm and embedding links throughout the web.

The following are screen shots taken from Dana Blankenhorn's online article,
"Big Mother gets her shot at cutting health costs", in which he had taken Buzelli's "Big Mother" illustration and used it without permission by the artist-- these are the comments and responses to the wrongdoings:

Buzelli:
Dana's response to Buzelli:

Buzelli's response to Dana:
And it's nice to note that other illustrators are backing up artists everywhere, especially people within the Society of Illustrators:

So, note to self...when I graduate in a few weeks, start copyrighting everything I produce as an illustrator and visual artist.

"The Monster Engine"

"The Monster Engine is a book, a demonstration, lecture and a gallery exhibition. The premise for all three came from one single question: What would a child’s drawing look like if it were painted realistically? " via Dave Devries' website: Dave Devries' The Monster Engine - A Journey Into Children's Imaginations.

Sharpies can create art too...

Man decorates basement with $10 worth of Sharpie - Health - Kentucky.com

It's amazing what one little black marker can do. Jot down notes, create a poster, etc. Well one man can apparently decorate an entire room with them. Check it out!

Solarbeat

Whitevinyl has created something unique in the world of art. Can the solar system be a song? One wouldn't ever think so. Well this unique flash designed by Luke Twyman shows that the planets rotation can create a beautiful melody. I thought it was unique also that it all looks like a record player, so that it is art, science and music combined! Absolutely wonderful!

When GAGA meets BEYONCE...

...I still don't know if this is a work of pure genius, craziness, artsy-ness... either way... its got some beautiful retro scenes or stillframes in it! One of the many things Gaga is good for is bringing back the retro side to art.
